Busy Weekend!

Mid-September is a very happy time for the Irish Dominican Province. The Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross (14 September), is traditionally the day when the Dominican habit is received by incoming novices, and is remembered by all the brothers as the anniversary of their entry into the Order. This year, the Order is delighted to welcome Brs Greg and Neil, who will spend their novitiate year in St Mary’s Priory, Pope’s Quay, Cork. They are pictured below with their new novice master.

The following day, the Memoria of Our Lady of Sorrows (not celebrated this year), is our traditional day for first professions. Four brothers – Philip Pius, Michael, Matthew Gerard, and Jesse Antoninus Mary – took simple vows, and will make their way shortly to the studentate in Dublin, where they are eagerly awaited! They are pictured below as their scapulars are being blessed. Pray for these new Dominicans!

Finally, here’s a shot of (nearly) all the Dominican brothers in formation. We’re all at different stages, some studying philosophy at NUIM, others studying theology in St Saviour’s, and some just beginning their journey in the Order.

All pictures are taken from the blog of our vocations director, Irish Dominican Vocations.
