St. Saviour’s Dublin

The history of the Dominicans in St. Saviour’s, Dublin, spans nearly 800 years, beginning with their arrival in the city in 1224 and the establishment of their first priory on the north bank of the Liffey. Though suppressed in the 16th century under Henry VIII, they continued to minister in secret. Their modern presence began with the current church, consecrated in 1861, and their ministry continues today as the parish church for the local community and a Studium for Dominican students.
