The Abbey that refused to die
Play Video

Croagh Patrick, the mighty mountain that dominates the landscape of County Mayo, has long been a site of religious devotion. Ballintubber Abbey plays a key role in that story, witnessing to a time when the Kings of Connacht promoted the pilgrimage and protected pilgrims. Acknowledgments: We are grateful to the Office of Public Works for granting permission to film at Ballintubber Abbey, and to the Parish Priest and staff for facilitating our visit.
