St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church: ‘English Decency’ in Medieval Galway

St Nicholas' Collegiate Church
Play Video

Galway is known as ‘The City of the Tribes’, a reference to the fourteen merchant families who dominated its life in the medieval and early modern period. These families were Catholic in faith and English in culture, a combination which marked the life of Galway’s principal church: the Collegiate Church of St Nicholas.

Acknowledgments: We are grateful to the clergy and staff of St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church for facilitating our visit.
