The Master’s Letter to our Holy Father Pope Francis

Message of the fr Bruno Cadoré to the Holy Father Pope Francis

Holy Father,

Joining the whole Church in the joy and thanksgiving for the election of Your Holiness as successor of Peter, I act as the voice of the friars, nuns and laity of the Order of Preachers and all the members of the Dominican Family in expressing our onenesswith you in the prayer and mission of evangelisation which your Holiness has enjoined us in your first message.

With great simplicity, but also with an inspiring demand, the words and the gestures of His Holiness called us to walk, with humility and with friendship toward all, by the way of the Gospel, with the eyes held high toward the Cross of Christ and with the hope set on His passover for the world. I assure you that our Order will endeavor to receive this message, which echoes that of our Fathers Francis and Dominic, as a call to continually return to the source of the charism that consecrates us to the evangelisation of the Word of God.

The Master’s Letter to Pope Benedict

“Thank you, Pope Benedict XVI” fr Bruno Cadoré on behalf of the entire Dominican Family

Most Holy Father,

I ask you to accept the immense gratitude of the Order of Preachers for the great generosity and beautiful simplicity with which you have exercised your ministry, ‘a humble worker in the Lord’s vineyard’. The Brothers, Nuns, Apostolic Sisters, Lay Dominicans and the entire Dominican Family join me in assuring you of our communion in prayer and thanksgiving.

On several occasions during your ministry, in the course of your teaching, you evoked some great figures of holiness that God by His grace has given to the Order of Preachers. It was for us a strong invitation to draw anew and constantly from the source of the charism of St. Dominic.

Pope Benedict XVI on Saint Dominic

GENERAL AUDIENCE

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

Saint Dominic Guzmán

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Last week I presented the luminous figure of Francis of Assisi; today I want to talk about another Saint of the same period who made a fundamental contribution to the renewal of the Church of his time: St Dominic, the Founder of the Order of Preachers, also known as Dominican Friars.

His successor at the head of the Order, Bl. Jordan of Saxony, gives a complete picture of St Dominic in the text of a famous prayer: “Your strong love burned with heavenly fire and God-like zeal. With all the fervour of an impetuous heart and with an avowal of perfect poverty, you spent your whole self in the cause of the Apostolic life” and in preaching the Gospel. It is precisely this fundamental trait of Dominic’s witness that is emphasized: he always spoke with God and of God. Love for the Lord and for neighbour, the search for God’s glory and the salvation of souls in the lives of Saints always go hand in hand.

Pope Benedict’s Message to Young People

Piazza, Westminster Cathedral,

Saturday, 18 September 2010

Mr Uche, Dear young friends, thank you for your warm welcome.

Heart Speaks unto heart, as you know I chose these words so dear to Cardinal Newman as the theme of my visit. In these few moments that we are together I wish to speak to you from my own heart, and I ask to open your hearts to what I have to say.

I ask each of you first and foremost to look into your own heart, think of all the love that your heart was made to receive, and also love it is meant to give, after all we were made for love. This is what the Bible means when it says that we are made in the image and likeness of God. We were made to know the God of love, the God who is father, son and Holy Spirit, and to find our supreme fulfilment in that Divine love that knows no beginning or end.
