Celebrating 800 years in Ireland

2024 Celebrations Logo800 years ago this year, in the year 1224, the first Dominicans came to Ireland. They were coming to a place they had never seen before, to a people they had never met, to a society with its own history and strange practices, but they came to share the Gospel inspired by the example of St Dominic and his desire to preach the truth of the Gospel.

As we launch our new website, we take our example from those first Dominicans who came to our shores. The digital continent is also a new shore, a wonderful opportunity for encounter, for meeting new people in a new way, unknown 800 years ago. Like those first Dominicans we see this as an opportunity to continue the mission of St Dominic: to preach the Gospel, as God’s message and not some human thinking (1 Thess 2:13), believing as we do it is still a living power for the good.
