Besides our community prayer, each of us needs the space to create the inner silence and aloneness to be with the Lord, to enable us to say for an extended period each day ‘I want to be with you, Lord.’
Frequently, Saint Dominic would say to a companion on the road with him, ‘You go ahead, let us think of the Saviour’, and then fall behind to be alone.
We Dominicans find a similar space and time for ourselves each day. For us, it can be the most important event in our day than any important apostolic activity.
It is in this sense of being in the presence of God that we can continue in our mission of preaching God’s Word.
