The community at St Mary’s Priory, Tallaght, is the second largest Dominican community in Ireland (the largest being St Saviour’s, Dublin).

The community has an enormous variety of ministries, including the teaching of theology (here and in other colleges around Dublin), historical research, biblical research, sacramental and liturgical ministry and parish ministry, administration of the Province, meditation groups, the running of a retreat house, adult education programmes, a printing press, distance learning programmes, counselling….

The Priory Institute, which runs theological courses and offers part time distance education in theology leading to a primary degree, has its headquarters in the priory.

The Retreat Centre welcomes a multitude of groups, young and old, throughout the year. It is open all year round.

The archives of the Irish Dominican Province are housed at St Mary’s, and the Prior Provincial and his team are in residence in the community.
